Wologisi FC Terminates Sonii Contract

Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberia Football Association second division outfit, Wologisi FC, has confirmed the termination of former head Coach Sekou Sonie’s contract, as Vice President for Administration, Edward Sie, cited breaches of the club’s code of conduct.

Edward Sie explained that Coach Sekou Sonii’s contract was terminated after he was found guilty of a dubious act against Wologizi FC while serving as the team’s head coach. Sie revealed that Coach Sonii was one of the key officials involved in the management of the team’s connect system. After observing that some registered players’ names in their connect system could not be found, a proper investigation revealed that players were sold to other clubs under Coach Sonii’s influence.

“We terminated Coach Sonii’s contract with Wologizi FC due to inappropriate acts that violated the club’s guidelines. We observed that players from our connect system were sold to other clubs through Coach Sonii’s influence without the knowledge of any team officials. Additionally, we had issues with him several times for mismanagement of players during games. However, the main reason for his dismissal is the dubious acts against our team,” Sie stated.

Sie further mentioned that Sam Chebo, who served as Deputy Coach to Sonii, has been appointed to take over the team until the end of the season. They are calling on everyone dealing with former Coach Sonii in team affairs to cease, as he is no longer part of Wologizi FC.

When contacted, Coach Sonii described the reasons given by Wologizi FC for his dismissal as illegal. He stated that he has already taken the matter to the nation’s football house, the LFA, to address his dismissal.

“The allegations made against me by Wologizi FC are false. I never sold any of the team’s players to another club. I have submitted my response to the LFA in writing and am awaiting their response,” Sonii added.
