Women’s Football: World Girls FC Sign Guinean International Damaye Camara

Africa-PressLiberia. World Girls FC has announced the signing of Guinean international Damaye Camara from Horoya FC on a 2-season deal. Damaye, 20, was announced by her new club on Monday as they continue to beef up their squad for the upcoming league season.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder became the fifth Guinean national team player to join a Liberian club in the women’s division after four of her compatriots moved to the league last season. Hawa Conteh and Bountou Sylla of Determine Girls, Mariam Soumah, and Kadiatu Sylla, were the first four Guinean national team players to move to the Liberian league.

Before completing her transfer to World Girls, Damaye was said to have scored seven goals in four games during phase-one of the 2020/21 Guinean Women’s League 1, including a double brace against Dandaya FC when her team won 17-0. Damaye is the second foreign player brought into the country by World Girls after the arrival of a Nigerian player that is yet to be officially unveiled.

In November 2019, Damaye was part of the Guinea national team squad that traveled to Liberia for an international friendly against Liberia that settled to a 3-all draw at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

Hawa Conteh got a hat-trick for Guinea, while Lucy Massaquio scored a brace through headers plus a lone goal from Pauline Agbostu. World Girls finished in the 5th position in the 2020/21 women’s division league that comprised nine teams and reached the semifinals of the PetroTrade Cup. World Girls is eyeing the new league title and the ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League with the addition of new foreign players to their squad.
