Africa-Press – Malawi. The battle for Super League promotion in the Chipiku Central Region Football Association Premier Division has reached at an exciting stage. Leaders Extreme dropped valuable points following 1-1 draw against Mbabzi United at Kamuzu Barracks Ground on Sunday.

Beston Jimu scored for Extreme whereas Austin Banda was on target for Mbabzi. Wimbe were awarded maximum points and two goals following Support Battalion’s failure to turn up for the home match at Mafco Ground in Salima District on the same day.

This was the second consecutive match that Support had failed to show up. The two teams are separated by three points with Extreme at the summit of the six-member log table with 15 points from eight matches whereas Wimbe have 12 but have played seven matches.

However, Wimbe have a chance to overtake Extreme if they beat Luanar at Kasungu Stadium this afternoon. With a victory over Luanar in today’s match, Wimbe will be above Extreme on goal difference. Wimbe have a better goal difference of four against Extreme’s three.

Interestingly, Extreme host Wimbe, which is likely to be a potential decider, at Aubrey Dimba Ground on Sunday. Extreme Coach Joseph Malizani said his troops were not under pressure.

“We are taking each game seriously. The players are determined to do the job,” Malizani said.

On his part, Wimbe Coach Monkey Chirwa said the players will not lose without a fight. “We are fighting our own battles. We want to win all the remaining matches,” Chirwa said.

Luanar are third with nine points from seven matches whereas Silver Strikers Reserve are fourth with seven points from the same number of matches. Mbabzi and Support are fifth and six with six points each.
