Africa-Press – Malawi. Five players for Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) side Crazy Warriors have been admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital after the team’s bus was involved in an accident on Sunday morning.
According to the club’s statement, the accident happened when the side was traveling to an away game against Malawi University of Science and Technology.
“The team bus was carrying 17 people, including players, coaching staff, and support personnel.
“Multiple players sustained injuries of varying severity. Five individuals have been admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for medical treatment,” the statement reads.
“Our immediate focus is on the well-being of our players and staff. We are working closely with medical professionals to assess the extent of injuries and provide necessary care. The club expresses its deepest concern for those affected by this unfortunate incident.”
One of the team’s senior players, Kondwani Kabowa requested privacy for the affected individuals and their families during this difficult time. “We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. We appreciate the support and understanding of our fans, sponsors, and the basketball community. Let us come together during this challenging period and rally behind our team,” Kabowa said.
