Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi Women’s National Football Team Captain Tabitha Chawinga has downplayed reports linking her with moves to either Paris Saint-Germain Féminine or Arsenal Women Football Club.

Chawinga said her focus was on helping Inter Milan Women’s side win the championship in Italy, having joined the side on loan from her parent club, Chinese side Wuhan Jiangda.

“It is true my agent told me about PSG and Arsenal, that they were interested in my services. PSG were keen to sign me before I left Jiangda for Inter Milan. Arsenal have also been inquiring.

“However, it is too early to commit. Currently, I am working hard to help Inter win the title. I know with God, everything is possible and I can move to another club. It will be easier to join PSG as their coach is familiar with me, having coached me in China,” the Scorchers skipper said.

Former Flames midfielder Sherry Msuku advised the player to concentrate on her game. “It is good that top sides are monitoring her performance. She can secure her dream move with more outstanding displays for her team,” Msuku said.

Tabitha is a golden boot contender in Italy where she has so far scored nine goals this season. She was named Inter Milan Women’s player of the month for September when she scored four goals. Tabitha was also named Africa best female player based in Europe for the month of September.

The former DD Sunshine forward is a proven goal-scorer, having won three golden boot awards in the Chinese Women’s League in five seasons including in her debut season when she netted 17 goals. In Sweden, she also won golden boot award in her debut season when she scored 35 goals despite joining the league while in progress.
