Africa-Press – Malawi. As the country prepares to host African Union Sports council Region 5 Youth Games in the next six months,the country stadiums are expected to wear new faces to meet the International standard.

The proposed sporting grounds that are expected to wear new faces including Bingu Stadium, Kamuzu Institute for Sports, Bingu International Convention Center (BICC),Silver stadium, Natural Resources College (NRC) ground ,Civo stadium and Nankhaka stadium.

Chairman for African Region 5 youth games,Stanley Mutoya said this on Thursday, March 24, 2022 after touring the some Lilongwe sporting ground that will host the games. Matoya said for the country to meet the international standards a lot has to be done to the countries sporting places.

He said the games that the sites are expected to host the games are kamuzu Institute fir swimming competition, Griffin Saenda for Netball and Basketball ball, Bingu for field and track,Nankhaka for Football, Civo to host football, ABC, to host football, basketball and volleyball and Bingu international conference center for Judo.

Matoya disclosed that Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho,Malawi,Mozambique ,Namibia,South Africa and Zambia are the countries to participate. In her remarks chief Executive Officer for Local Organising Committee,Emma Mabvumbe said Malawi will managed to renovate grounds in a short period of time. ready for the tournament

The players are expected to be hosted in three proposed sites Villages namely Bunda for 1200 athletes, NRC 760 and Nalikule 740. Malawi will in December 2022 host African Union Sports Council (AUSP) 5 under 20 youth games inline with article 52 of AUSP.
