Africa-Press – Malawi. Just because you are not driving a posh car does not mean that you are not achieving anything. Just because you are not drinking expensive whiskeys does not mean that you are an inferior person.
Just because you are not a fun of clubbing every weekend does not mean that you are not living life. The fact is you may not exude such materialistic perspectives because you are working hard on your dreams.
What comes quickly goes away quickly, the wise say. Keep on pushing. Better days are in front of you. Do not be taken up with the insatiable appetite for flamboyance. Grow your business first. Grow your competencies first.
Become the best product on the market; then eventually you will be able to afford most of the things you admire. Work hard until you reach a point where when you drive a top-of-the range vehicle, people would not see you as being luxurious, because the resources used are a mere fraction of your net worth.
Be modest. Stay in a house that you can afford. Do not be taken up with the pressure to show off through staying in areas which are expensive to the detriment of your economic growth. Build your financial resources first. Time will come when you will stay in low-density areas and people will consider it normal for you.
Often we are unable to work towards our dreams because we are lost in the world of competing with others. We become victims of peer pressure to the extent that we lose track of our dream. It should always be at the back of your mind that if you are successful, it is you alone who is successful.
Lives of those whom you are trying to compete with or compare with will keep on rolling. There is no justification therefore that you struggle to live a flamboyant life all just to show peers that you are making it in life.
Keep on hustling. Disregard how your peers will look at your hustle and belittle it. Your hustle is the highway to a financially stable life. You may look old fashioned today but you are building the extraordinary tomorrow person of you.
It is not all that easy to keep the faith when you seem to be slow moving in the pursuit of your dreams. You see your friends rising in different fields. At times we are swayed by lifestyles whose financial basis we are not well aware of.
Stick to your financial plan. No matter how long it will take, you will still make it. St Theresa of Avila was right: “better late than never.” Believe in yourself first. Truth is that not many people will embrace your dream at the onset. Do not give up. Keep on polishing it.
To shift people from one perspective to another takes time. Remember this, if you are in business, by default you are starting with zero customers. It will take you time to build a good base of customers and become a household name. That is where patience and perseverance become the two sides of the blade of success.
If you are a corporate person, an academician or any other talented human being, realise therefore that the world has other outstanding personalities in the same faculties.
It will take time for you to be noticed. It is when you start doing things little by little that recognition starts trickling in until you become a name to reckon.
The fact of the matter is that all the personalities you admire were at first ordinary just like you are but with time, through hard work and patience, they became extraordinary in their spheres of influence
