Africa-Press – Malawi. First Capital Bank (FCB) has unveiled its 30th Anniversary Trophy, which FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers will compete for at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.
Speaking during a ceremony at the bank’s headquarters in Blantyre, FCB Head of Marketing and Communications Twikale Chirwa said the stage is set for the anniversary.
Chirwa said the bank has halved gate charges for the match for all its customers who purchase tickets using debit cards.
He said it is exciting that both Silver and Bullets are eager to win the trophy and celebrate success with their respective fans.
“We would like to communicate that we are ready for the FCB 30 years trophy. We have reduced ticket prices in all categories to allow our customers to be part of the celebrations. We will also give our merchandise to the first 1,000 people, and I am sure it will be a great day,” Chirwa said.
He added that the bank will announce a new deal with Bullets at the end of the season, when the three-year contract agreement they signed will expire.
SETTING THE STAGE—Chigoga address the press“We have been in talks with Bullets, having signed the sponsorship deal with them back in 2022. We will announce whether we will continue with them or not, probably after the season. But we are happy with them and we are looking for a long-term partnership,” Chirwa said.
Bullets Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Albert Chigoga said the club is taking the game against Silver seriously as they want to be the first team to win the cup.
Chigoga said he expects both sides to field strong squads.
“As Bullets, we are delighted to be part of this historic moment with our sponsor, and I am sure our players will play their hearts out to win the trophy,” he said.
Silver CEO Patrick Chimimba thanked FCB for the consideration.
“It is a great honour for us to be part of these celebrations and we are prepared to play against Bullets. We accepted the challenge as a way of fine-tuning our team. I am hopeful that we will win this cup,” Chimimba said.
FCB will donate the match’s gate collections towards youth football at Luwinga Academy in Mzuzu.
