Africa-Press – Malawi. Blue Eagles Coach Eliya Kananji has vowed to feature a strong side when facing relegation threatened Sable Farming in a TNM Super League match this afternoon at Nankhaka Stadium. Kananji said they would like to cement their second finish target in the league.
“It is every man for himself and every team for itself. We have to do our part to finish the season on second position because we are not guaranteed. We will feature players whom we believe will help us carry the day,” he said.
Kananji will likely rely on the likes of Gaddie Chirwa, Schumacher Kuwali and Rapson Richard. Eagles won the first round 2-1 at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre. Currently, the Malawi Police side lies on second position with 56 points.
However, Sable Coach Macdonald Mtetemera, whose charges face Silver Strikers tomorrow, said they will not throw in a towel without putting a fight. “We haven’t been relegated and my players are ready to fight for our survival. I don’t see us getting relegated.
Sable are on position 14 on the 16-member log table with 24 points from 27 games whereas Eagles are second with 56 points from 27 games. In a military affair this afternoon, Moyale Barracks will host this afternoon third-placed Kamuzu Barracks.
