Africa-Press – Malawi. More concerns are still being raised following the recent Burkina Faso coup. An opposition figure based in France, Adama Coulibaly, faulted the former regime of its governance, further indicating the current coup is as a result of poor leadership.
Adama Coulibaly, who is the president of the opposition party APP also known as Burkindi, which is a leading figure of the Burkinabe diaspora in France, believes turnover was imminent.
“You can’t close a pot and stop the water from boiling – it will explode, and that’s what’s happening. That doesn’t mean that it was necessarily the choice of the Burkinabe, but a change was absolutely necessary. What has happened is entirely the responsibility of the former MPP (People’s Movement for Progress) regime and of President Kaboré, who’s failed miserably,” said Adama Coulibaly, the president of the opposition party APP/Burkindi, leading figure of the Burkinabe diaspora in France. He further pointed out the instability in the region, especially Burkina Faso, which has experienced numerous attempted coups in recent years.
“The region was already destabilized. Can it be further destabilized? With all these Western and African forces on the ground to reduce terrorism, we can see that the situation is deteriorating further. For more than eight years we have had the Barkhane force, the Minusma in Mali and also the special forces, the Sabre in Burkina and American intelligence in Niger, the situation is not under control,” said Adama Coulibaly, the president of the opposition party APP/Burkindi, leading figure of the Burkinabe diaspora in France.
The former French colony is now in the hands of the Patriotic Movement for Preservation and Restoration (MPSR) — the name of a junta led by Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, a regional commander in the jihadist-torn east.
