Africa-Press – Malawi. The organizers of the 2022 Umthetho cultural festival starting from Wednesday August 10,2022 up to Saturday August 13, 2022 at the foot of Hora mountain in Mzimba have announced that President Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Saulos Chilima will attend the event.
Inkosi ya Makhosi V M’mbelwa shared the update with journalists on Tuesday August 9, 2022 in Mzimba. M’mbelwa said on top of the two country’s leaders, the event will also be graced by the Founder of Enlightened Church Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
“Apart from our international guests, from Zambia and Tanzania, we have also received confirmations from the President and his Vice as well as Prophet Shepherd Bushiri who are set to grace the event. It is going to be a big event,” said M’mbelwa.
The organizers also said that this year’s Umthetho will be more exciting than the past ones as more cultural and traditional activities have been lined up.
Umthetho is an annual cultural festival for Mzimba Ngoni also popularly known as M’mbelwa kingdom which was established in 1885. Among other things, the event involves pay homage to the graveyard of departed Inkosi ya Makhosi 1. This year, it will be held under the theme “Campaign Against Irregular Migration and Trafficking In Persons.”
