Africa-Press – Malawi. President Lazarus Chakwera on Sunday, May 29, 2022 visited the Nkhata Family to console them for the demise of their son. This follows the sudden death of the musician Martin Nkhata well known as Martse who died on May 23, this year.
The president who was accompanied by his his wife Monica, was welcomed by Minister of youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda,Homeland security Minister Jean Sendeza and other government officials.
Martse died in Blantyre at Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital after the house he was sleeping in, was gutted down by fire in Monkey bay and had sustained multiple burns in the process before he died.
He was laid to rest on Wednesday May 25 at Area 18 Lilongwe after an emotional farewell service in at Civo stadium where people from walks of life gathered to pay their last respect .
Martse who died at the age of 28, was a Malawian hiphop artist and beat maker who started his music career around 2004 and he was highly influenced by Mphatso Katopola and Dzimbiri of now defunct KHAMRADZI. His music inspired many and Martse became well known after releasing tracks like ” Grace Chinga; Mwano; Mwapinduranji and many more.
