Africa-Press – Malawi. The launch of Prophet David Mbewe’s freedom for worship and economic liberation (FOWEL) has been shifting dates since it was slated to be launched at Njamba Freedom Park on October 17,202.
The event is still hanging in balance as Blantyre city Council and Blantyre city assembly are refusing to give the movement venue clearance. This is despite several efforts by the FOWEL Secretariat, a move that is suspected to be politically motivated.
Some months, Blantyre city Assembly referred FOWEL officials to Blantyre District Council where Blantyre District Council referred them to Blantyre City Assembly.
Commenting on the matter FOWEL President, Prophet Dr. F Mbewe said he is not moved with political persecution as the launch will take place whether in a tree or a house, but is assured of victory during the 2025 election.
Meanwhile,the letter dated August 9,2022 signed by District Commissioner Bennet Nkasala has directed FOWEL officials to present their request to the council for necessary attention.
Publicist for Blantyre City Council Debral Luka says there was misunderstanding between Blantyre City Council and Blantyre City Assembly on the issue. Luka argues that the council will clear the matter once brought to its attention.
