Africa-Press – Malawi. It does not get sweeter than this. Malawian gospel musician Chigo Grace has been recognised in the United States (US), where she has been nominated for a Maranatha award.
Maranatha Awards organisers have been recognising artists for their efforts in lighting up people’s moods through lyrics and, for the Malawian female gospel artist, being recognised shows that, musically, she is knocking on the right doors.
Maranatha Awards Global is a US programme that seeks to acknowledge effective kingdom diplomacy globally and is facilitated by Maranatha Global Revival Networks.
“For an international platform to recognise the work I am doing; I take it as a career milestone. I thank God for everything,” she said. Grace said she was thrilled when she received a message notifying her that she was one of Maranatha Awards ‘nominees.
She said, to put an icing on the cake, she did not apply to participate in the awards. As they say, a fragrant flower attracts bees; likewise, Maranatha Awards organisers did not have to be told that here is a talented artist from the Warm Heart of Africa.
Chigo is not surprised, though. “All my songs are played in international television stations, including Trace gospel and One gospel, which I believe is the basis for my recognition and nomination,” said a beaming Chigo.
The Worshipper has been nominated in three categories. For instance, ‘Better Is a Day’ was nominated as the Best Prophetic Song; ‘No Longer’ has been put in Best Thanksgiving Song category while ‘Munoshamisa Mwari’ has been nominated as a contender for the Best Adoration Worship Song award.
She said being nominated meant she would continue to work hard in the music industry. The Blantyre-based musician said the songs have received positive and encouraging feedback from local and international audience members, thanking fans, producers and music promoters for supporting her.
The singer urged female artists not to look down upon themselves but, rather, work towards meeting their goals. The awards will be presented in Baltimore, the US, on August 28 2021. People can vote for their favourite artists via www.maranathaawards.com and voting will end on July 1, 2021.— Mana
