Africa-Press – Malawi. Vice president Saulos Chilima has dismissed rumors of disunity in the Tonse Alliance to Malawians in the United States of America. Speaking in New York city during a meeting with members of the Malawians diaspora, Chilima said Tonse Alliance is still strong and has called upon the people to continue relying on the Alliance.

The meeting between the Vice President and Malawians in the diaspora opened with questions that the Malawians living in the USA have been looking for answers.

Among the questions included the ongoing rumor that there is wrangle between parties in the Tonse Alliance that’s making Headlines in Malawi’s local papers.

In his response, Chilima said the Alliance is still strong and will continue to work towards the betterment of the Malawi. He further urged Malawians gathering at the meeting not to listen to rumour mongers who are spreading negative stories regarding the Alliance.

Chilima added that the Alliance is not just for politicians alone but for the people. He, therefore, asked the people to continue working together to ensure that the Alliance remains intact.

When asked about the corruption cases involving high profile individuals in the country, the Vice President refused to comment anything. Chilima stated that the cases are in courts hence he can not say anything on the matter.

The representative of the Malawians in the USA, Cliff Bobby, had commended the Vice president for meeting the group of Malawians in foreign land and allowing them to ask burning questions that affect the lives of Malawians.

“As Malawians living here, we are happy that the Vice President has accorded us this opportunity to interact with him.

“Apart from assisting people affected by natural disasters, the diaspora is also engaged in investment drives that will develop the motherland,” says Bobby.
