Africa-Press – Malawi. The county’s power supplying company Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) and Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) are under fire from the general public over the frequent power outages which have become rampant in the country.
According to some, what the company is doing by failing to quickly solve the problem will automatically force a lot of Malawians stop using electricity in their homes instead they will start adopting solar energy for power.
“We must accept that ESCOM is chasing its customers to adopt solar energy by giving this silent treatment. Trust me, they know what they are doing.
“If this continues by December, for sure they will have 20% of their customers off the grid as most will have become tired of this rubbish and adopt solar energy by force,” says Honny Max.
Yohane Michael Chidzala chips in; “Since I was born, this is the waste times we have experienced persistent blackouts in this country! Kodi Mademo against this sangatheke!?.” Harrison Mphezi Msuku adds; “Useless and clueless company. No need to update us anymore nothing new here!.”
” Another Electricity Supply Company is needed in Malawi, otherwise this is a permanent problem, Accept that you cant manage to provide electricity the whole Malawi”, says Mike Munthari.
Rhondan Kaonga echoes; “You guys, you lack seriousness, if you are tired please step down others should take over. This country is already bleeding, it doesn’t need people like you at energy sector. If I were the president lero lomwe ntchto ikanakutherani.”
Lawrence Kasiya adds; “Kenako nkumakweza mtengo wamagetsi chonsecho mwayi opanga ndalama mukuwuphonya nokha..imagine,hw much have you lost during this time of countrywide load shedding?.”
“You must be ashamed of yourselves Escom and Egenco. Blackouts country wide when you are iddle watching not knowing what to do. Just step down for your incompetency. It’s high time such personalities got fired immediately, ” says Haggai Chidula.
Samson Chikwekwe ” Mr president, what is happening with electricity in this country is a big shame! Where are you ?? Do you know that you are killing us now, how can we do our businesses without or with this broken electricity, this is more than serious, Mr president how can you allow that broken power plant down such long? Knowingly we have too little, is this safeguard your people sir ???.”
Gracious Chalekana says; “ESCOM instituting investigations into frequent power outages? Who will do the investigation? Why should it be done? To whom shall ESCOM submit its findings? Who do they owe for them to do that? Why now? Who will foot the costs for this investigation? Useless!.”
Madalitso Banda chips in, “Why is Escom still regulate electricity distribution? While they don’t produce none. This is the wrong move. We have engineers, individuals who can generate power and distribute the whole Malawi. So incompetent, lack of strategy, no creativity.”
The country has seen frequent and more worsen blackouts since last two weeks. Earlier this week, a plane failed to land at Chileka Airport in Blantyre due to lack of electricity.
