Africa-Press – Malawi. The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) through its search and rescue operation has managed to rescue six people who were stack in capsized boat on Thursday, February 17, 2021.
According to the corporation’ statement, the six include one ESCOM member of staff, two Marine Officers, and three villagers that now are in good health condition. The utility body however says staff two members and two villagers are still missing that rescuing operation is still on progress.
The corporation added that the operation is in progress to rescue the rest using the boats from the Malawi Police Service Marine Unit that will keep the nation updated on developments surrounding the rescue mission.
The search started immediately after a Malawi Police Service Marine Unit Boat that the ESCOM members of staff and seven others were traveling in capsized in Shire River. The team was working on restoring power in some parts of the lower shire in the aftermath of Moderate Tropical Storm Ana.
