Africa-Press – Malawi. Mighty Wanderers’ unbeaten run in the TNM Super League faces a stern test when they face rookies Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon.
So far, the Nomads are the only unbeaten side in the league.
On the other hand, Ekhaya have lost three matches in their debut season.
Wanderers go into the match as favourites due to their experienced squad but Ekhaya are no longer push overs as they have a good squad blended with youngsters and experience.
The two sides go into the match separated by six points with Wanderers on second position with 26 points from 10 matches whereas Ekhaya are third with 20 points but have played a game more.
Wanderers are coming from a 2-0 victory over rookies Songwe Border United whereas Ekhaya lost 1-0 to Bullets.
This is an important match for both sides but Wanderers need a win to keep up the pace in the title race.
Bob MpinganjiraWanderers Coach Bob Mpinganjira said he expects a tough match against Ekhaya.
“We are not really under pressure. We are focusing on our results and we are not minding other teams’ results,” he said.
Wanderers will be without Clement Nyondo, Sama Tanjong and Richard Chipuwa due to injuries. Mphatso Kamanga and Chimwemwe Nkhoma have started light training and the duo is also out of the match.
Ekhaya Coach Enos Chatama said pressure was on Wanderers.
“It will be a tough game considering that Wanderers are fighting for the title. If they lose to us they will lose ground in the title race. We have to play with confidence and without pressure,” Chatama said.
Ekhaya will be without Innocent Msowoya and Emmanuel Saviel due to injuries.
In other matches this afternoon, Moyale Barracks will host Silver Strikers at Rumphi Stadium whereas Creck Sporting Club will face Mzuzu City Hammers at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.
Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos will face Blue Eagles at Dedza Stadium.
Chitipa United will face Karonga United at Karonga Stadium.
