FDH Bank plc doubles flames sponsorship package to MK120 million annually

Africa-PressMalawi. -FDH Bank Plc has committed MK120 million annual sponsorship towards the Malawi national football team, the Flames. FDH Bank deputy managing director George Chitera disclosed the package during a press briefing in Blantyre on Thursday, July 1, 2021.

The bank decided to increase the sponsorship bearing in view of the Flames’ participation in the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cameron early next year.

The bank started bankrolling the Flames in 2016 with a sponsorship agreement of MK30 million annually. That agreement was revised in 2019 when the bank increased its annual sponsorship to MK60 million, which is expiring at the end of the year.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu commended the bank for the sponsorship, noting that the government alone cannot meet all the team’s needs, as the government is preoccupied with other important tasks.

Nyamilandu called upon the corporate world to emulate the good gesture shown by FDH Bank. The bank also sponsors the FAM/FDH Bank Cup for MK360 million to run for the next five years.
