Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE)-listed FDH Bank plc share price closed at K458.61 on Friday, a trend which saw the firm reaching K3.2 trillion market capitalisation on the local bourse.
The bank becomes the most valuable counter on the market.
Within about five years since its listing on the stock market, FDH Bank’s market capital base has jumped from K60 billion.
Its share price has gone up from an initial public offer (IPO) price of K10 per share in 2020.
Investor Benedicto Nkhoma, in a social media post, hailed FDH Bank for what he rated as a feat.
“FDH Bank became the biggest entity, in terms of market capitalisation, after its shares moved today [on Friday] to K458.68,” Nkhoma said.
In recent years, the bank has registered sustained growth with its 2024 profit-after-tax rising to K74 billion.
Speaking at the 2025 annual general meeting recently, FDH Bank plc Managing Director Noel Mkulichi attributed the bank’s growth to a combination of strategies mainly on targeted customer focus, staff empowerment, operational efficiency and innovation.
He highlighted the bank’s continued investment in digital platforms and innovations aimed at improving turnaround times and service delivery.
“In 2024, the environment was very challenging but we took up the challenge and that is what drove this strong performance. And looking ahead, staff development is one of our strategic pillars. That means upskilling our staff but also relying on their commitment.
“We are upgrading our systems and delivery channels. We believe that that will help us move forward. It’s about operating efficiently and meeting customer needs,” Mkulichi said.
In June, FDH Bank released a statement, advising that its profit-after-tax for the period ending June 30, 2025 was expected to be between 107 percent and 118 percent— higher than the one reported for the corresponding period.
The profit-after-tax for the period ending June 30, 2025 is expected to close within the range of K57.8 billion to K60.8 billion, up from a K27.9 billion profit made during the corresponding time last year.
