Africa-Press – Malawi. The female Malawian Professional Boxer Ruth Chisale who works with Malawi Defence Force has won an International World Boxing Federation Belt in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
Chisale has defeated Grace Mwakamele through unanimous decision in an eight rounds WBF title fight on Sunday evening 26th December, 2021 on Christmas Box holiday.
This comes barely some months after another Malawian Boxer Hannock Phiri won another International belt in Tanzania. Chisale’s victory has come after other two female boxers Anisha Basheel and Ellen Simwaka also made Malawi proud in different categories back in the days.
Johnny Palichesi Jnr,Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board general Secretary described Chisale’s victory as a beautiful gift for Malawians on a festive season and said she has made their board (MPBCB) proud.
Palichesi has however encouraged match makers and promoters to continue arranging the fights for the female boxers saying “This can be the only way of uplifting the girls in the sport.He added that,as a country we have talent in boxing which just lack exposure especially for females”.
Meanwhile, The Mchinji based boxer Limbani Chikapa has beaten the veteran MDF boxer Osgood Kayuni through unanimous decision in a non title bout which took place at M1 Center Point in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Chikapa tried his best to win the fight through Technical Knock Out (TKO) but the legendary Boxer Kayuni,showed some resilience forcing the promising upcoming boxer to be chasing his own shadows at some point,missing targets of his jabs and uppercuts which if landed on Kayuni that could have been the end of the road.
But Kayuni stood the heat till the end of round eight as he showed some brilliance skills as if he is still a teenager, judges had to decide who the winner was on points.
