Africa-Press – Malawi. First Capital Bank (FCB) has awarded K500,000 to each FCB Nyasa Big Bullets player as a token of appreciation following their successful defence of the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

The bank handed over a K15.7 million cheque to the players and officials at its training centre in Blantyre Tuesday.

FCB Chief Finance Officer Michael Kadumbo commended the players for their dedication.

“The bank is always proud to be associated with the Bullets brand. We truly appreciate the players’ efforts in making Bullets a winning team,” Kadumbo said.

Albert ChigogaBullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga also expressed gratitude: “The bank has always supported the team and motivated the players. When players and officials are happy, the results are visible on the pitch.”

Bullets retained the Airtel Top 8 Cup after a 4-3 victory on penalties over Silver Strikers, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time at Bingu National Stadium last month.

It marked their third consecutive Airtel Top 8 title and fourth overall since the tournament’s inception in 2017. Bullets remain the only club to achieve this feat.

Bullets coach Peter Mponda hailed the gesture as significant motivation for the team.

FCB and Bullets entered into a three-year sponsorship deal worth K525 million in 2023.
