Former Botswana leader visits Kamuzu Mausoleum, Lake Malawi

Africa-Press – Malawi. Former President of Botswana Seretse Khama Ian Khama is in Malawi and has so far visited Lake Malawi and the burial place of Former Malawi President Hastings Kamuzu Banda.

In pictures shared on his Facebook today, Khama is seen visiting the Kamuzu Mausoleum at city centre and Kamuzu’s statue at the Word War Memorial in the capital city.

Khama also posted pictures of himself at Lake Malawi. “Memories made at Lake Malawi,” he posted. On Friday, Khama met President Lazarus Chakwera at State House. Khama, aged 69, was president of Botswana between 2008 and 2018. He has been residing in South Africa since November last year.

He fled his home country, after his home was raided following allegations that he was in possession of illegally obtained firearms. Khama denies the allegations.
