Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi Gaming and National Lotteries boards say gambling, lotteries, betting and casinos are not source of income but rather be taken as entertainment. The boards therefore are advising the general public to tread carefully when patronising the games while desisting from addiction.

The Board’s Public Relations Officer Miriam Kumbuyo told media orientation in the capital Lilongwe that gambling should only be taken as a source of entertainment.

Kumbuyo therefore has pledged to intensify sensitization campaigns on responsible gambling, betting to the general public. The intervention comes amid reports that more people have made gambling a source of income, a situation which is leading to addictions among the bettors.

“Gambling, lotteries, casinos, betting are games meant to entertain that’s why one wins by chance. This is the reason we want the general public to understand against addition which is very dangerous.

“Addition to gambling is recipe to loss of properties, depression hence needs to taken as an entertainment not source of income; you win and loose,” advises Kumbuyo.
