Africa-Press – Malawi. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the operating environment remains fertile for investment and development projects like the Goshen City Project, being spearheaded by Shepherd Bushiri in lakeshore district of Mangochi.
Minister of Local Government Blessings Chisinga made the remarks as Bushiri, along with Goshen City management, had an interface with potential partners in Blantyre on Friday.
“The vision of Goshen City is in line with government’s vision of transforming several areas to become cities. Cities are hubs of economic growth and development, therefore as a government we are determined to ensure that cities are developed across the country.
“Goshen City is in line with that vision. That is why as government we are in support of the project, because it is in line with our vision of transforming Malawi,” he said.
In his response Bushiri said he hopes to get more partners for the project. He then applauds the government for embracing Goshen City concept. He further said while having dreams of seeing the place become the richest City in Africa, Goshen City will be inclusive of people of all classes.
“We organised the meeting to create awareness of Goshen City to institutions. We started with government but our next move will be to make the project familiar to communities. We want the city to be the richest in Africa, but we will have facilities that cater for people of all classes,” he said.
The event attracted participants from 78 companies, with the hope of partnering with the companies to breathe life into the multimillion dollar project, which will be a hub of business, education and innovation among others, in Monkey Bay, Mangochi.
