Government has sacked Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) Chief Executive Officer Henry Kamata for disregarding the austerity measures which President Arthur Peter Mutharika established, Times Sport has learnt.
According to a letter which Times Sport has seen dated March 2 2026, Kamata, who was serving an indefinite suspension for travelling to Yaoundé, Cameroon, without first a prior clearance from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has been fired because of gross misconduct and negligence.
Sources indicated that Kamata applied for clearance but still travelled before the clearance was issued.
