Africa-Press – Malawi. Great Angels Choir’s ‘Nza Yahweh’ music video, off their Ufumu Umodzi Sumaukilana album launched recently in Lilongwe and Blantyre, is a great work of art.
For the interest of those who have not sampled the music video, the track ‘Nza Yahweh’ is a song that immortalises the general virtuousness of God and His protection over those who exalt and respect him.
The audio for the song was produced and mastered by Amos Mlolowa of Drumos Records, with video being produced by Twice P. The video director of this song, whose real name is Paul Pascal, is also the brains behind the production of Driemo’s award winning music video ‘Mojo’.
Picture
One thing that is unique about Twice P is the earnestness he usually invests in polishing the picture. In this regard, it must be said that ‘Nza Yahweh’ music video was never deprived of the perfect quality it deserved.
The colour grading in this video is top notch and augurs well with the surrounding environment and colours. Artificial lights were well balanced, too.
Costume
Great Angels Choir stands out when it comes to costume. Members of the choir always dress to their best during their performances. This is also the case in the music video, something other artists have to borrow.
Choreography
Dance is vital. It adds value to a song and, so, Great Angels, as they have done in their live performances, breathed life in their music video through their unique dance moves. The Lilongwe-based group, popularly known as the People’s Choir, did well in their dances in the music video.
Setting
The choir did well in selecting a proper location for the music video. It is also encouraging to see how the set was furnished with interior and exterior decorations in an attempt to amplify the video’s view.
Having looked at the positives, there are some negatives and, firstly, the song lacked a proper foundation for its narrative. It seems that the producer was geared more on the video’s beauty and not the content.
The videographer was supposed to work hard in transposing the song’s message into a viable motion picture. Secondly, the song, being gospel, missed some spiritual elements. There are a lot of music videos that have been produced and miss these ingredients but, all in all, there is some improvement.
