Africa-Press – Malawi. Central Region Football Association (CRFA) and Sponsors Chipiku Stores have launched the MK15.5 million league at Lilongwe community Center ground on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

The whole ceremony started with a parade of the Trophy around the City of Lilongwe before Kamuzu Barracks Youth and Simbi FC locked horns at the same venue. It was a tight battle between the two,Kamuzu Barracks were the first to score towards the end of the first half at exactly 45th minute.

This half ended with the host narrowly leading by a goal to nil.Second half opened up and teams continued with beautiful football and the visitors Simbi FC attacked with aggression and precision no wonder they equalized at 52nd minute. KB came up with brain drained ideas after conceding and scored the second at 78th minute.

Kamuzu Barracks RSV remained in their half as they tried to defend the second goal until 86th minute. The Chioko boys thought they have killed it all but it wasn’t over until it was over for Andrew Mereka’s boys,they got an equalizer again at 90th minute and it was confirmed the two shared spoils in opening game of the MK15. 5 million Chipiku Stores league with Mchinji Based side Simbi FC coming from behind twice.

After the match Andrew Mereka, Simbi FC Coach, hailed his boys for the fighting spirit and getting a point against the tough opponents Kamuzu Barracks Youth.Mereka added as Simbi FC they have come to compete and not to just participate in the league.

Team Manager for Kamuzu Barracks Youth Alex Nkhwazi is upbeat his team is going to do better this season while acknowledging his boys made mistakes which gave Simbi FC room to come from behind twice to equalize. Nkhwazi was however confident that his team will finish amongst the top four teams in their group.

In his remarks Bernard Chiwiriwiri Harawa, General Secretary for Central Region Football Association (CRFA), described the event as colourful saying it has signified that the teams are ready to compete for elite league slot.

He therefore lauded Chipiku Stores for being with the committee for almost 16 years now,he described the partnership which exist as very strong. Harawa said as Association they are looking forward for a successful season.
