Africa-Press – Malawi. Lecturers at LiLongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) are calling it historic, President Lazarus Chakwera’s unprecedented opening of K12 billion administration building and lecture rooms constructed on international standards.
President Chakwera is today, May 6, officially opening the LUANAR administration building and teaching lecture rooms at Bunda Campus. One of the lecturers, Dr Alexander Kalembera said plans for the new international lecture rooms were mooted in 2007 and construction works started in 2009.
This puts to rest opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) propagandists who have been misleading people in social media platforms on social media platforms that the project was initiated by former president Peter Mutharika.
Dr Kalembera said this project was solely funded by the government of Malawi. President Dr Chakwera and First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera looked elated as they were taken around the new infrastructure.
They were also witnessed a live lecture in one of the lecture rooms. President Chakwera toured some fish ponds and other agricultural activities before launching the state of the art LUANAR administration complex. Some international students from Nigeria, DRC, Zambia and Zimbabwe explained some of the approaches to modern agriculture.
