Africa-Press – Malawi. National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) Board has appointed Micklas Reuben as the company’s Acting Chief Executive Officer. He replaces Helen Buluma who was fired following a determination by the office of the Ombudsman that she was irregularly recruited to the post of Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
In a statement Maravi Post has in possession dated November 17, 2022, NOCMA Human Resources and Administration Manager, Prescott Nkhata says the appointment is effective November 2022 15, pending recruitment of a substantive job holder.
“Meanwhile, all staff are urged to continue demonstrating the spirit of teamwork, and dedication, applying themselves to fully discharge their duties and responsibilities,” reads NOCMA’s statement in part.
Reuben has worked as Director of Operations and Depot Manager for NOCMA. He is also the former Aviation Operations Manager for Puma Energy and former Depot Manager for BP Malawi. He holds a degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s degree in Strategic Management.
Established in 2010 under the Companies Act of 1984 NOCMA is mandated to manage a strategic fuel reserve facility in accordance with Government’s approved Strategic Fuel Reserve Management Plan; provide, at a fee, hospitality to new entrants as one way of promoting competition and promote upstream oil and gas exploration.
