Africa-Press – Malawi. People at Livingstonia Beach Salima on Saturday, July 23, 2022 witnessed Malawi Beach Soccer team beating Tanzania by three goals to two in the 2022 Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifiers slated for Mozambique.
Malawi scored the goals through Sandaram Saddi at 30th minute, Isaac Kajaam extended the lead at 33rd minute but a minute later Good luck Gama pulled one back for the Taifa Stars. Gama levelled the matters to two all at 35th minute.
As the game was thought would end with the two nations sharing spoils,Isaac Kajaam completed his brace at 36th minute to give Malawi a narrow win over Tanzania in the 1st leg of the qualifiers.
Boniphace Pawasa Tanzania Beach Soccer head coach congratulated Malawi for the win while attributing it to the poor officiation.He added the condition of the ground was not good for his players and vowed to do better in the second leg slated for Tanzania.
“I saw the way they played today,I have noted their strengths and weaknesses when we go back in Dar- er Salaam will rectify the mistakes we have made in this match,3-2 it’s not too much but we are going to respect Malawi as it is a good team with good players”, He explained.
Malawi Coach, Willy Kumilambe, hailed his charges for the victory though some weaknesses which he said need to be worked on before travelling to Tanzania.
” We stayed many years without competitive games and many of my players were playing an international game for the first time hence showed some respects to the counterparts.
“We have conceded two goals at home it can damage us in the second leg,the team has future to qualify to the finals”,Kumilambe said during the post match interviews.
The second leg will be played in Tanzania in two weeks time. The finals of 2022 Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations is anticipated to take place in Mozambique, in October.
