Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi government through ministry of mining plans to work with ministry of health in sensitizing people in all mining sectors on how to prevent themselves from tuberculosis. This follows as on February 25, 2022 ministry of mining together with ministry of health launched a TB policy in order to curb TB in mining sectors.
According to minister of mining Albert Mbawala small scale miners are in cooperatives where they receive health care and business advise hence it will be easy to reach them with messages concerning prevention on tb.
Mbawala further highlighted that any minor found with TB will have access to treatment. On his part Enock Phale,deputy minister of health has assured Malawians that it will make sure it strengthen it’s committee intervention so as to reach out to masses of people who are at risk of catching TB.
“As a ministry we are committed to have cross border screening mechanism in order to close up the gaps that may risk the cross infection,” Phale said He said with support from world bank they are assured the cross boarder screening will be archived.
In conclusion upon noticing a decrease in percentage of people living with TB Phale applauded health workers for the great work they are doing on the ground.
