Malawi in fuel crisis

Africa-Press – Malawi. Fuel is one of the most widely-used sources of energy in the world today. Most fuels are natural substances such as petrol fuel, diesel, and natural gas, which are either extracted straight from the earth or produced by refining substances such as petroleum.

It is one of the most important substances on Earth. It keeps the cars and trains running. Without fuel the world would be a very different place. Malawi gets over its total energy from oil, which is fossil fuel. We depend on this fuel to run our vehicles, generators, power industry and manufacturing, and provide us with electricity in the absence if hydro power.

Petrol and diesel powers many of our municipal transportation fleets and the trucks that deliver goods to markets. It provides the raw material needed to manufacture the goods we consume, and transports the fertilizer farmers use to grow the food we eat. However, there is a fuel shortage in Malawi in 2022 as we speak.

Unfortunately, during the height of the pandemic the demand for fuel decreased since fewer planes were taking off and trucks were not being utilized fully. In fact, many of the oil refineries that were shut down during the pandemic have not as yet reopened. There are some reasons why there is fuel shortage right now.

The shortage had been caused by climate protests blocking major fuel depots, exacerbating existing supply issues due to increased demand post-Covid lockdowns and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Drivers are facing tough times after fuel supply problems arrived after prices rose to record levels.

US stockpiles of diesel fuel currently sit at a 20-year low. This comes at a time when Americans are doing extensive online shopping and the supply chain is struggling to keep up. And indeed, it’s not even the only diesel fuel shortage currently developing; propane stockpiles are also dwindling.

However, there is currently no fuel shortage in the U.S. as we speak today According to AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross, there is no gas shortage. Gross noted in an email to Cars.com that the U.S. has plenty of gasoline. However, the price is high because oil is the main ingredient, and it’s costly right now.

There are some potential impacts because of fuel shortage and the following are some of them: • Financial losses for businesses and the economy. • Inability to provide essential services.

• Lengthy return to normal supply levels.
