Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi Police Service (MPS) at Mponela in Dowa District is hunting for assailants behind the brutal murder of a 9-year-old girl who was a Standard 2 learner at Chizoloondo Primary School.
According to reports gathered by Kalipano Police Unit detectives, on October 12, 2023, at about 7 pm, the reporter who is the father to the deceased was at Chizoloondo Trading Centre selling cassava.
It is on record that the deceased, accompanied by her little brother, visited the father who then sent the girl to deliver cassava to her uncle who does business within the same trading center.
Thereafter, Eddah(now deceased) left the place with her little brother to go home. A few minutes later, the father followed them but did not find the daughter home.
The following morning on October 13, 2023, the father and other relatives resumed the search until in the afternoon around 1 pm when the lifeless body of Eddah was found lying naked in a garden at a distance of about a kilometre North of Chizoloondo Trading Centre.
Postmortem conducted at Chizoloondo Health Centre revealed that death was due to excessive loss of blood secondary to multiple stab wounds. Mponela Police Public Relations Officer, Macpatson Msadala, said investigations are underway to trace and arrest the culprits behind this brutal murder. The deceased, Eddah Katengeza, hailed from Mkanire Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kayembe in Dowa District.
