Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi National Netball Team, the Queens have qualified to the 2023 Cape Town, South Africa Netball World Cup following their 62-41 victory over Zimbabwe in the semifinals of African Netball World cup Qualifiers in Pretoria, South Africa on Friday, August 26, 2022.
The queens have not only qualified to the Netball World Cup but also reached the finals of the African Netball Tournament. Malawi Queens are expected to battle for supremacy against the host South Africa who also defeated Zambia by 74 goals to 42 in another semifinal match from 13;00 hours.
Malawi led in all quarters,14:8, 32:18,44:28 and 62:41 in the final quarter. Blue Eagles Netball Team star, Takondwa Lwazi was later voted player of the match,her second at the tournament
First lady Monica Chakwera who is the matron of the team has congratulated the team for the superb performance at the tournament and for qualifying to the World Cup.
