Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi National Women’s football team forward Temwa Chawinga is now the most decorated player in the 2023 Season as she inspired Chinese outfit Wuhan to yet another glory with 51 Goals.

Chawinga scored a hat trick for Wuhan Jiangda in their 5-1 victory over Zhejiang Hangzhou (Women) in the Chinese Women’s Super League last match of the season on Saturday 2nd December 2023.

The star has scored 30 goals in the league this season and has won the league Golden Boot award for a second consecutive year. In the previous season, Temwa scored 10 goals in the league.

In total, the Malawian has banged 51 goals for Wuhan Jiangda in all competitions this season. Chawinga won the Golden Boot Award in the Chinese National Cup with 15 goals and also achieved the same feat in the Chinese FA Cup with six goals.

Temwa hailed her teammates for their support and she was also instrumental when the Malawi National Women’s football team “Scorchers” won their first-ever COSAFA women’s Championship in South Africa months ago.

“This is the best season ever for me both at club and national team. I will not relax because my motto is to keep moving forward,” she said. Temwa inspired the Scorchers to win the 2023 Cosafa – women’s championship after she scored nine goals. She was also voted player of the tournament.

Following Saturday’s win, Wuhan retained the Chinese League as they have finished top with 61 points from 22 matches, six points above second-placed Shanghai Shengli. Ever since she joined Wuhan Jiangda (China) from Kvarnsvedens IK (Sweden) in 2020, Temwa has won 4 league titles and 3 cups plus 5 individual awards.
