Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi Police at Kawale Station in the capital Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 23-year-old woman identified as Ethel Gustone for allegedly killing her own three months old baby girl.
Kawale Police Station publicist Mabvuto Phiri confirmed of the arrest with the press on Monday June 20, 2022 saying Gustone dumped the baby in a stream within Area 23.
Phiri said the reports gathered indicate that the woman killed the baby and wrapped her in a sack bag before throwing her in Msambeta stream and the matter came to the limelight after a farmer noticed the child floating in Msambeta stream which is close to his farm.
He added that Detectives acted on the matter after the farmer sort police intervention and the suspect was arrested during the night of June 19, 2022 and she is expected to appear before court soon to answer murder charges. Gustone hails from Kavithiwa Village in the Area of Traditional Authority ( T.A) Chikowi in Zomba.
