Africa-Press – Malawi. The High Court in Blantyre on Monday June 27, 2022 sentenced to life imprisonment five of 12 convicts in the murder of MacDonald Masambuka, a young man with albinism in Machinga.
The five are Maxwell Sosola, Dixon Dengu, Bishir Lilongwe, Cassim White and Alfred Yohane. In her words, Judge Dorothy Nyakaunda Kamanga told the court that the sentence is in accordance with Section 210 of the Penal Code.
Kamanga also sentenced a Catholic Priest, Father Thomas Muhosha, a police officer Chikondi Chileka, and three other to 30 years imprisonment each for being found guilty of conducting business in human tissue extracted from a human corpse.
She further sentenced four others to 60 years imprisonment each on the two accounts of causing another person to harm another person with disability and causing another person to harm a person with albinism.
The late Masambuka (a boy with albinism) went missing on March 9, 2018 and his body was later found buried in a garden on April 2, 2018 near Makawa Village in the area of Senior Chief Mkoowola in Machinga.
