Africa-Press – Malawi. Musician Patience Namadingo popularly known by his brand name ” Doc” has become a first Musician in Malawi and Zambia to reach one Million followers on Facebook. Writing on his Facebook Page, the Mapulani hit maker thanked his fans for creating first musician to reach such mark in two countries.
“You have created the first musician to reach one Million followers on Facebook in Zambia and Malawi. This is super encouraging.Namafans from Zambia, Malawi and across the globe, blessings your way. We say thank you.,” lauded Namadingo.
Based on recent research studies, public figures have been placed as top beneficiaries of the social media platforms for reaching out to using miscellaneous multi-media means.
The internet data potal indicates that there were 670, 000 social media users in Malawi in January, 2021. In 2020 and 2021, the number was increased by 160 thousand users, equivalent to +30% . In January, 2021 the number of social media users in Malawi became equivalent to 3.5% of the total population.
Namadingo realised his first album titled” Goseni” in 2007. In 2010, he released” Tiri ndi Yesu” that had a topping song Mtendere and made it one of the best selling gospel albums between 2010 and 2012.
He is also a most viewed musician on YouTube having 3 songs with over 1 million views on the platform, namely, Mapulani, Pefekiti and Sakaka. He is expected to release another hit song to shake the music industry on Friday, February 11, 2022.
