Africa-Press – Malawi. Newly appointed Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Director (TD) Marian Mario Marinica has revealed that he believes in fast-attacking football.

“I love fast and very fast football focusing on five pillars which are physical, mental, tactical, technical and social. This will help improve the standards of football in the country,” Marinica said during his familiarisation tour of the Northern Region at Mzuzu Stadium on Friday.

Marinica, who has worked in South Africa and Tanzania, said he used the meetings to share his concept of “fast and very fast football”. During his interface with the region’s coaches, the Uefa Pro Licence holder said coaches must play a great role in shaping and transforming to get good results.

“The results are not there at the moment but there is a fantastic chance to start changing things and to put them into the right perspective to give Malawi football the results it deserves,” Marinica said.

National Football Coaches Association Chairperson, Aubrey Nankhuni asked the TD office to support the coaches committee in both rural and urban areas by, among other things, providing training for them to improve technical skills.

“We should work jointly because we already have structures on the ground in every district. For this philosophy to work, his office has to provide technical equipment and facilitate coaches’ training,” Nankhuni said. The TD also toured Luwinga Technical Development Centre. He also interacted with coaching panels for Karonga United and Civil Service United.
