Muvi pressure group describes anti-corruption conferences as “Smokes-screen”

Africa-Press – Malawi. LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s Muvi wa Chilungamo pressure group has described the just ended Anti-corruption conference held in Blantyre as a smokes-screen observing that thieves and crooks were given the podium to address the conference delegates on what to do to fight corruption.

The pressure group observed that President Lazarus Chakwera took his time praising Martha Chizuma for doing a good job regardless of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) report submitted to him with a list of 84 suspects allegedly listed to have benefited from corruption money that she submitted a sub-standard report.

The group said President Chakwera ashamedly told the guests who included Professor Patrice Lumumba of Kenya and others coming from outside Africa that in 20 weeks’ time, corruption will be declared enemy number one in Malawi saying this is a blue lie.

Commander in Chief of the pressure group Bantu Saunders Jumah, said it was very surprising hearing from the president’s mouth praising Chizuma while his government is doing all of what it can can planning to fire her for exposing corruption in Malawi.

Jumah recalled that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government in 2016 organized a similar conference inviting alleged corruption suspects such as Goodall Gondwe, Nicholas Dausi and George Chaponda saying the Tonse Government has done it again proving for itself that Malawi is a banana republic.

He said President Chakwera has been heard commanding his ministers and Government officials of no allowances, arrest of COVID-19 funds abuse, protecting every Kwacha in government coffers but nothing to this date has been done making Malawians casting doubts that Malawi is being governed by other people and not Chakwera they know.

The Commander in Chief said Malawi is being governed by a stupid Constitution that defends thieves and crooks from entering a plea of prosecution in court urging all Malawians of goodwill not to sit down.

He said the Vice President, Saulosi Chilima called for the amendment of section 92 of the Constitution, saying this has revealed to Malawians that he is not the only one in corruption scandals, the Tonse Alliance government is a criminal enterprise whose duty is to appease corrupt people.

Jumah observed that violence demonstrations which are being held in Malawi, the Tonse Alliance government has to blame for itself because instead of fighting corruption, it is condoning corruption by shielding the rich not to face prosecutions while the poor are the ones being sent to prison.

“Had it been that the Tonse Alliance government was doing things in line with the wishes of Malawians, there would not have been violence demonstrations, Government is to blame for that”, said Jumah.
