Africa-Press – Malawi. Branch manager for EcoBank in Mzuzu John Chizuza is facing charges of theft by servant and fraud other false pretences. Chizuza was arrested last week for failing to account for MK129 million belonging to a client’s account. The case appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Adul Issah Maulidi last week where the charges were read to him.
Through his lawyer Wesley Mwafulirwa he applied for bail but the State vehemently protested arguing that his release may jeopardise investigations. He has since been remanded at Mzuzu prison and he is set for another court appearance on Monday next week.
The Senior Resident Magistrate however gave the State seven days to conclude their investigations. In the case the State is being represented by regional prosecution officer for the north senior superintendent Moja Phiri. Our findings have revealed that the MK129 million which went missing belonged to the account of Sana Cash and Carry.
