Africa-Press – Malawi. Police in Zomba are keeping in custody a 45 year old man for being found in possession of forest products without permit. Zomba Police Publicist Patricia Sipiliano, has identified the suspect as Lindeni Dawa.
Dawa was arrested Monday as he was driving the lorry which was loaded with tree logs at Zomba Plantations. Sipiliano said the suspect was in company of his accomplices who are still at large.
“We have since launched a manhunt for the other suspects, while Dawa will be appearing in court soon to answer the charge of being found of forest product without permit,” Sipiliano said. Dawa’s arrest comes amid concerns that Zomba Plantation is losing its treasure.
