Nankhumwa, Msonda, Malata others accused of destroying DPP for Chakwera

Africa-Press – Malawi. The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Youth Governor for Lilongwe, has accused some senior members of the party of working tirelessly to destabilize the party so that “it goes to the 2025 elections without a presidential candidate and allow the President Lazarus Chakwera not to have a strong competitor.”

The Youth Governor speaking on a strict condition of anonymity said Kondwani Nankhumwa, Ken Msonda, Billy Malata, Big Joe Nyirongo and others behind them “are not members of the DPP in good faith but party destroyers”.

This comes as Malata, Msonda, and Nyirongo held a press conference last Sunday taking to task DPP leader Peter Mutharika for failing to unite the party.

The source told The Maravi Post that the trio had gone to court to meet the party’s leader Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) so that the court declared him not eligible to stand in the 2025 elections describing the move as a deliberate plan of weakening the DPP.

“What Nankhumwa, Malata, Msonda, and others are doing is a deliberate plan to destroy the DPP for it to end like curtains on the wall will not succeed advising patriotic Malawians.

“My fellow party members, crooks are stabilizing our party to pave the way for President Chakwera to bounce back through the back door,” said the source. The opposition DPP has been in a leadership crisis since losing the 2020 Presidential Elections to Chakwera.
