Africa-Press – Malawi. As one way of meeting austerity members, President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government has set 6 July celebrations for prayers this year. This according to cerebration’s team leader, Sam Kawale the move will save government MK350 million compared to the past 2 years which costed MK400 million.
Kawale observes that government has been loosing taxpayers money during the cerebration including stadiums events. He said this year’s event prayers will be held in Lilongwe at Bingu international square centre.
Kawale who is also Lands Minister said regardless of the cerebration having a special budget from parliament the Tonse government thought it wise to trim the budget.
He said Malawi is in the recovery state that citizen should expect more changes in the way Tonse will be handling state affairs. Kawale added that government will continue trimming it’s expenditure to meet the countries economy crisis. He therefore called upon Malawians to remain calm as the current regime is trying to work on how to recover the economy.
