Africa-Press – Malawi. Mighty Wanderers have extended star attacker Wisdom Mpinganjira’s contract until 2028.
Wanderers Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi, said Mpinganjira signed the three-year extension on Wednesday.
Ndovi hailed the Malawi National Football Team star for his commitment to the club.
“We are happy to announce that we have reached an agreement with Wisdom. We believe this is a clear indication that the player is determined to help the club win trophies in the next three years. Wisdom has been an integral part of our team’s success and we are excited to keep him for the next three years,” he said.
Mpinganjira pledged to help Wanderers perform well in the TNM Super League and Caf Confederation Cup.
“It is an honour to maintain the blue badge. I am excited to remain a Wanderers player and I know the challenges which lie ahead. There is a lot to be done and I am looking forward to working with my teammates, the technical panel and our supporters in bringing back the glory to our beloved club,” he said.
Mpinganjira has been enjoying fine form this season, scoring five league goals and topping the assists chart with seven in the top flight this far.
Meanwhile, the Nomads have ventured into contract discussions with their left-footed attacker Francisco Madinga.
On Monday, Wanderers announced that they had parted ways with Madinga but later released a statement indicating that they were still negotiating.
Football analyst Parly Chinyama said: “Clubs should avoid waiting until players’ contracts are remaining with just months to expire. It is good that Nomads have extended Mpinganjira’s stay and hopefully they will work on other players’ contracts in good time.”
Wanderers are topping the Super League log table with 33 points from 13 matches.
