Africa-Press – Malawi. Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday March 5, 2022 has been crowned the champions of NBS Bank Charity Shield Championship after defeating Silver Strikers 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The newly crowned champions scooped their winning goal in the first half after the former Silver Strikers defender, Hadji Wali, scored in his first competitive game for the people’s team on 36th minutes which handed the Calisto Pasuwa side the first silverware of the season as the two teams opened the 2022 season.

30 minutes into the second half, Wali punished his former team until it failed to level the play despite creating several scoring opportunities.

Speaking after the match, Bullets Assistant Coach, Peter Mponda, said their mission was to give game time to youthful players. Commenting on the game, Silver Strikers’ Coach, Dan Kabwe, stressed that the game was intense hence the defeat.

” To say the truth, we have done our part. The game was very tight but we tried our best creating scoring opportunities. We wish our friends the best for winning the match,” said Kabwe. The triumph by the people’s team is the fifth time in a row since its introduction for the team to defend the NBS Bank Charity Shield Championship.
