Africa-Press – Malawi. TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets have set sights on foreign talent in their quest to win silverware again this season. Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said they currently have two Ghanaian players on trial.
“We have central defender Isaac Badu and Bright Agogo, who is a central midfielder. The two players arrived last week and watched us beat Ekwendeni Hammers at Kamuzu Stadium. They will undergo two-week trials for proper assessment by our technical panel,” Chigoga said.
About two months before the new season kicked off, Chigoga had indicated that the club would sign foreign players if they made the grade. “Pasuwa wants to sign some players from abroad and logistical arrangements for their arrival are underway,” he said.
Bullets have Nixon Nyasulu, Kesteni Simbi and Haji Wali as central defenders with John Lanjesi yet to make a full return after recovering from an injury last season.
Ahead of the new season’s kickoff, the People’s Team made a decision to release most of their long-serving stars after their contracts ran out. Some of the big names that faced the chop at Bullets are Chiukepo Msowoya, Sankhani Mkandawire, Miracle Gabeya, Chimango Kaira and Ernest Kakhobwe.
The champions replaced them with a largely youthful squad drawn from their reserve side and other Super League teams. They are also without Blessings Mpokera, who is attending trials in Turkey, where he impressed during Malawi Under-23 National Football Team’s two friendlies against Kuwait and Togo.
Bullets have a tough league match against leaders Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Ground in Lilongwe on Saturday.
