Africa-Press – Malawi. I address this letter to you with a sense of concern and urgency regarding the state of our party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), its brand, and the well-being of its members.
It is crucial that as you engage in political strategizing, you recognize the significance of the party brand as a living entity, one that requires delicate handling and protection.
Unfortunately, it appears that the pursuit of power has overshadowed the interests of the masses, turning us into victims of your internal struggles and power plays.
The prevalence of egos and a sense of entitlement within the leadership ranks is deeply troubling. This behavior not only harms the members of our party but also tarnishes the party’s brand as a whole.
We have noticed a pattern of controlling tactics employed by you, the leadership, to maintain your position and influence, even at the expense of the welfare of the party and its members.
This relentless pursuit of power has become more important than striving for the common good and addressing the needs of the people. The perception that the trappings of power are prioritized over the well-being of the masses is disheartening.
We are aware of the clandestine activities undertaken by the leadership to assert control over the party, diminishing our faith in your ability to lead and represent our interests genuinely.
Furthermore, the undue advantages enjoyed by your children and relatives, exploiting their proximity to power, have not gone unnoticed. It is disconcerting that our agenda as members of the party does not seem to align with your priorities.
We remember the days when our calls went unanswered, and there were instances of financial misappropriation meant for the support of the party. This letter serves as a plea for clarity on your vision for the party. We seek to understand what new agenda you bring that can rectify the mess that has been created collectively.
We need to know why we should trust you this time, given our previous experiences of struggling to secure appointments with you, let alone discuss important matters.
Our concerns were met with arrogance, and your focus seemed to revolve around the interests of your families, friends, and acquaintances, often neglecting the principles of wealth creation and equitable distribution.
We acknowledge the presence of familiar faces within the leadership that now speak of reform and progress. However, mere words are insufficient. It is now time to hear and see the tangible plans and actions that you propose for the betterment of the masses.
We urge you to present a comprehensive agenda that demonstrates a genuine commitment to addressing our concerns and improving the lives of both the party members and the broader society.
This open letter aims to highlight the current state of affairs, expressing the hopes and expectations of the masses who have entrusted the leadership with their aspirations.
We implore you to acknowledge our grievances and work earnestly towards rebuilding trust, refocusing on the well-being of the party and its members, and fostering a sense of unity and purpose.
