Africa-Press – Malawi. The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council (NGC) moved its elective conference to July 2024.
The party has also endorsed former president Peter Mutharika as the party’s torchbearer for the 2025 elections.
Mutharika says the change in dates has been made to allow the party to adopt constitutional changes that have been made during the NGC meeting which was held on Monday, July 3, 2023, in the lakeshore district of Mangochi.
Mutharika said the Party will in December this year hold a high-level political conference to review and adopt the constitutional changes that have been made regarding the number of delegates to the convention.
